I am always amazed how much powerful information is out there!!! As I began writing and researching for this article I felt myself sinking into the ancient worlds of spirit wisdom. As old as time and as young as a new born spring, the wisdom of the human consciousness is omnipresent through all the ages. The ancestors accepted our connection with the spirit, they celebrated the power and magnificence of it in every natural event and understood that is all belongs to and is created by the divine intelligence. I have a passion for understanding how everything is interconnected and love to find out exactly how!!
The month is February, and of course its LOVE month.
The 14th of February is celebrated as Valentines Day.
There are many opinions and stories on the origin of Valentines Day.
Some experts say it originates from Saint Valentine, a Roman priest who died on February 14th, 269 A.D. It is said he was jailed by Emperor Claudius II for refusing to give up Christianity and for defying the emperors ban on marriage and marrying young people in secret. Legend says that before his death Valentine left a note for the jailers' daughter -who had become his friend- and signed it -from your Valentine.
In 1496 A.D. Pope Gelasius set aside February 14th to honor Saint Valentine.
Another likely reason for Valentines Day is that the naming of the month of February has its roots in an old festival called Lupercalia.
One of the most ancient of roman festivals was held in the Lupercal, where Romulus and Remus were said to have been nurtured by the she-wolf. The Lupercal contained an altar and a grove sacred to the god Lupercus, the god of fertility and of shepherds.
The festival was celebrated on the anniversary of the founding of this temple on February 15, to overt evil spirits and purify the city, releasing health and fertility.
The religious ceremonies were directed by the Luperci, the "brothers of the wolf (lupus)", Here the Luperci {priests} assembled on the day and sacrificed to the god goats and young dogs, which are animals known for their strong sexual instinct, and thus were appropriate sacrifices to the god of fertility. A sacrificial feast followed, after which the Luperci cut thongs from the skins of the victims, which were called Februa, dressed themselves in the skins of the sacrificed goats, in imitation of Lupercus, and ran round the walls of the old Palatine city, the line of which was marked with stones, with the thongs in their hands in two bands, striking the people who crowded near.
Girls and young women would line up on the route to receive lashes from these whips. This was supposed to ensure fertility, prevent sterility in women and ease the pains of childbirth. The goat-skin itself was called februa the word meaning purification, the festive day dies februata, the month in which it occurred Februarius.
Reading about the ceremonies and legends of old, I can't help but realize that the individual and the communal welfare were connected in those days. The whole village would come together to celebrate, purify and ensure fertility for the survival of the species. A woman's ability and desire to have children was of interest to her community, the individuals struggle with infertility a tribal concern.
When we come together as a whole, focus on the healing and pray for well-being, we intensify and accelerate the outcome and effect.
When we help others heal, we heal ourselves. We are all interconnected, as we raise the love vibration individually, we raise it globally.
Love is the most powerful healing force in the universe.
The universe has bestowed upon us the unlimited blessing of love and flowering of the spirit. The actions of one person flow into the family of all nations. Let your loving actions flow into the universe in positive ways this month and every month.
I want to encourage you to remember love this month. Not just on Valentines Day, not just by sending a lovely card, but by letting your thoughts and actions be of love, by sending loving energy to yourself, to those in spirit and the people in your life & around the world.
